He attempts to use this celebrity status to gain the respect of an old sweetheart (Mary Stuart Masterson). The troubled actor soon realizes he is not the only one from his class who has run along a difficult path. Running into his old crew, he discovers their lives are just as confused as his. Own Review: Well, first off I got to admit, I wasn't really into the story that much. Mainly because I couldn't find myself to feel for the main character. Despite that, again as expected Rory's acting performance was genius. He and John Favreau had such a great chemistry on screen, that I find myself wondering how great a movie with just the two would be. I listened to the commentary and was happy to hear, that George Hickenlooper said that Rory is an exceptional Actor and a close friend. I was also very surprised when he mentioned he is thinking of a new movie with Characters from both "low life" and "Dogtown" in it. And it would be Rory's character John. Yes, pretty please Mr. Hickenlooper. Although I was unable to find anything about this. According to the Internet Sources he is currently working on "the whale of Montana", in which Rory is supposed to play the violent husband of Robin Tunney. So, I guess we have to wait and see. I thought Mary Stuart Masterson did a terrific Job. The town was just to weird. At least for me, and I grew up in a very, very small German town, still the people in Cuba seemed way more depressed than here, and I thought that wasn't even possible LOL No, just kidding I love my hometown! Since English isn't my native language, I had some difficulties with the accent, especially Rory's Accent. But this only proves he did a remarkable job with it. Do I recommend the film? Yes, of course and if it's just for Rory Cochrane and John Favreau. That alone makes it worth to watch. But I got to mention, I was so crazy about that Behind the Scenes thing, that I can't hide my disappointment. It was way to short, and I had expected to see a few stuff from all the Actors, not just one. Okay, the commentary is still worth to hear, so go people buy the DVD!
